How to Choose the Perfect Flowers for
Your Spring Countryside Wedding
When it comes to planning a spring countryside wedding, there's something undeniably magical about incorporating local and seasonal flowers that add a fresh and colourful element to your special day. From vibrant tulips to delicate narciss, your options of British flowers are endless.
Today I’m sharing with you top tips and advice from the wonderfully talented Jemma from Jemma Khan Studios about how you can choose the perfect flowers for your Spring wedding. She will be sharing her insider knowledge and expertise as a luxury wedding floral designer.
Read below as I chat with Jemma about all the details of Spring wedding flowers:
Q. What Spring flower colours are your favourite?
A. For me, it has to be crisp whites with a tiny touch of blue and yellow, although this colour scheme does have to be balanced correctly as both blue and yellow hues can be quite dominant.
Q. Are there a range of British flowers available for Spring weddings?
A. Yes, although you can't wholly rely on them being ready when you want due to our tricky and sometimes unpredictable climate. April is the start of the Spring season, however May is the month where British flowers really start to come into their own.
Q. What are some lesser-known flowers you like to use for Spring weddings?
A. If you are looking to add a touch of uniqueness to your floral arrangements, then I would suggest snakes-head Fritillary, Hellebores and Muscar. These are the perfect choice for couples seeking something a little out of the ordinary.
Q. What are your top tips for creating a relaxed and rustic vibe for a wedding?
A. When you choose seasonal British flowers you are already choosing a more natural and rustic look, it's the nature of the flowers themselves as they tend to be locally grown instead of mass-produced. Flowers from the Netherlands are beautiful but they have more rigid stems and therefore don’t have the soft and delicate aesthetic of British flowers. Consider what vessels your floral arrangements will be in as this can add a beautiful rustic element to your wedding tables and venue. Worn urns are a great example of this, they look like they belong in a garden and blend in seamlessly with your surroundings. Trailing designs or creeping statement pieces like a large floral archway or hanging vines will add a countryside feel and relaxed ambiance to the space.
By thinking outside the box when it comes to your floral design and working with an experienced wedding florist, you are sure you have an incredible wedding with bespoke floral arrangements that will transform your venue.
Incorporating seasonal flowers into your Spring countryside wedding is not only a beautiful way to celebrate the season but also a meaningful way to support local growers and highlight the natural British flowers we are lucky to have.
