The Beauty of a Mood Board

One of the most common comments I get from couple’s during their consultation is; ‘I just don’t know where to start’. So I thought it was worth writing a blog with a bit of advice.

Firstly, it is important to accept that feeling overwhelmed is perfectly normal, it is a big moment and one that you both want to be perfect. Rest assured JS Events is here to help and break these decisions down for you into manageable chunks…. I always say, don’t worry lets start with the big things, think of a triangle with your big decisions at the bottom, i.e. Theme, venue and catering flowing into the smaller details at the top of the triangle, i.e. Table numbers, table plans and printed menu’s. This philosophy keeps everyone and the budget on track and your stress to a minimum.

For this blog I thought I would focus on the beauty of a mood board which really outlines the theming for your whole wedding.

So why is it so important?

Creating a mood board consolidates your thoughts into one visual document. Not only do we create a very clear picture of what you are looking for but it gives you a chance to get a first glimpse of your wedding and get excited that your dream wedding and vision really will be a reality. Giving the green light on your mood board should be a really exciting moment. We then send your mood board to each supplier at the time of enquiry to ensure that everyone is on the same page from the very beginning and that we receive accurate quotes.

One of JS Events’ values is to ensure that our couples are at the heart of every decision that we make to guarantee that both their personalities are reflected in the wedding, creating a truly personal and unique day. Having a mood board enables this to happen, it means that we are all working to one specific idea and theme, it really is the start of the planning phase and one that cannot be overlooked. Obviously, this is a flexible board and should your ideas change then we alter everything accordingly.

So… our biggest piece of advice for those feeling slightly overwhelmed is to start with the big decisions and in particular your theme and a mood board, from here you can see exactly what you both want to achieve and everything will feel a little bit more manageable.

Of course JS Events are always here to help! We pride ourselves on being very flexible and creating bespoke services dependant on what you need.
