Top Tips for Newly Engaged Couples

Congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time in your life and it's important to enjoy every moment of it. Don't be afraid to shout it from the rooftops, tell your friends and family (maybe your parents first!), and even make it Facebook official. This is a time to celebrate together and with your loved ones. Have you thought about throwing an engagement party? If you're like me and love to host an event for every milestone, then this is definitely one you're not going to want to skip.

After admiring and taking the obligatory selfie with your new sparkly engagement ring, go and get it insured. It will probably be the most expensive piece of jewellery you now own and it holds a lot of sentimental value, so getting it insured is wise.

If your ring fits perfectly then your fiance did an amazing job getting your ring size right, but nine times out of ten it's going to need resizing. This is normal and easy to do at the jewellers, so take a trip together to get it fitting right so that you can wear it comfortably and show it off with pride.

After getting caught up in the proposal, you might have missed the opportunity to get some photos, but don't worry you can organise an engagement photo shoot. This is a great opportunity to capture your relationship at this new stage and create photos and memories that you can even use on your wedding invitations. This is also a great opportunity to see if you gel with your chosen photographer and like the images, as you might want to use them as your wedding photographer too.

Tip: Don't forget to get your nails done before the photoshoot as there will definitely be some close-ups of your hands!

The next step is to get into wedding planning mode and start your Pinterest research! It doesn't matter if you are getting married the same year or in 5 years' time. Looking for inspirational images, colours and themes are always fun and super helpful for communicating your vision to your wedding vendors.

At JS Events, we understand that planning a wedding can be overwhelming and scary, especially if it's your first time. But don't worry, you're not alone! We're here to help guide you through the process and make sure your special day is exactly what you imagined it to be.
