What NOT to DIY for your Wedding

Planning your dream wedding can be so exciting! As you look through endless inspirations on Pinterest and Instagram, it's tempting to want to DIY everything to make your wedding unique. While adding personal touches with some handmade details is a great idea, certain elements are best left to the professionals who can guarantee it will look amazing.

As a wedding planner with years of experience planning beautiful weddings, here are the top things we recommend you DON’T DIY:

Catering

Feeding all of your guests is no small task! Working with a professional caterer ensures everyone will be served on time and take care of all your guest's dietary requirements.

Marquee/Tent Hire

Marquees require specialized equipment for installation and need to be set up correctly to be safe. Working with a reputable company that will deliver, safely install, and take down the marquee will make it so much easier for you.

Toilets

Renting luxury restroom trailers is an absolute must if you are having a marquee wedding to ensure guest comfort, and is sometimes required by venues. Don’t try and DIY this with cheap portable toilets - your guests will not appreciate this!

Photography / Videography

Your wedding photos and videos will be cherished memories for the rest of your life, so hiring a professional photographer and videographer is worth the investment. You receive high-quality photos that you can display with pride and they won't miss any of the special moments of you.

Lighting & Sound

Proper lighting and sound equipment enhances the ambiance of your venue and creates the perfect vibe. Trying to set up a makeshift system rarely produces the same high-quality effects you want for your wedding.

Rentals

From chairs and tables to linens, glassware and other decor pieces- professional rental companies have everything you need in great condition and all in one place. The costs are reasonable and save you from the hassle of sourcing the items and storing them after your wedding if you are thinking of buying the items instead.

While DIY can be great for accents like signage, stationery, table numbers, favours and confetti, leave the major structural and logistical elements to experienced professionals. They'll make everything go smoother so you can fully enjoy your incredible wedding day! You don't want to waste time in the lead-up to your wedding moving furniture or laying flooring - you want to spend it with friends and family and enjoy the excitement of your upcoming nuptials.
